The studio
BFL Studio is the engineering practice of Bittu Fabio Luca, based in Villa Carcina, near Brescia, Italy.
Experience
I have more than 25 years of experience as a design engineer, working for well-known lighting manufacturers in product design, industrialisation and research and development.
I have designed luminaires from discharge lamps to LED, covering mechanics, electronics and optics. I have run projects independently from idea to production, including relations with suppliers in Italy and abroad.
Method
Every project starts from a written, agreed specification. Technical decisions are documented in drawings, BOMs and reports, so your engineering team can pick up the work at any time.
I use relational databases, PDM and ERP to keep product data in order, and AI tools to automate repetitive tasks such as costing BOMs and preparing supplier RFQs.

Tools
3D and 2D CAD: Siemens NX, SolidWorks DS, Inventor Autodesk, Creo Parametric PTC, Think3 DPT, Fusion 360 Autodesk and FreeCAD. The CAD system to use is agreed together, based on the needs of the project and your company.
Lighting calculations: DIALux.
Product data: PDM, ERP, relational databases.
